THE WASHINGTON ARMORY

 

 

The Armory is officially known as the Washington Avenue Armory Sports and Convention Arena and listed on the National Register of Historic Places as Washington Avenue Armory and isĀ  a multi-purpose arena in Albany located on the corner of Washington Avenue and Lark Street. It was originally constructed in the 1890s and is home to both the Albany Patroons and has been home for the New York Buzz in the past.

The Washington Avenue Armory Sports and Convention Arena is one of New York's premier mid-size venues for sports, entertainment and business.

On March 2, 1995 The Armory was listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

The Patroon Room located on the main concourse of The Washington Avenue Armory features approx. 15,000 square feet without bleachers and can accommodate up to 4,000 in a theater or convention type setting. The completely renovated Patroon Room was built in 1891 in a castle-like setting and is equipped with a state-of-the-art Bose sound system, halide lighting system, and a 40' x 60' stage.

There are also Excecutive Parlors and Conference Meeting Rooms available for events.

It has also been used as the home of the Albany Library System. It was renovated in 2004 by a group headed by former Albany County executive Jim Coyne.
