Knox

 

The Basics

The Town of Knox is in the northwest part of Albany County and is west of Albany. The Town of Knox was established in 1822 from part of the Town of Berne. During the American Revolution loyalties of the inhabitants was split, but the issue was resolved when Tories moved away. The fire house serves pancakes in the spring for a syrup festival, they are generally considered very good pancakes.

Located in the Helderberg Mountains in northwestern Albany County NY, Knox is a unique community offering quality rural living while being located close to the advantages of the cities of Albany, Schenectady and Troy. The nearby Adirondack, Catskill and Berkshire mountains offer skiers, hikers and climbers world-class recreational facilities. Numerous bodies of water are available for fishing, kayaking and canoeing. Our location at the crossroads of the Northeast allows us easy access to New York City, Boston and Montreal, all of which are just hours away by car or rail.
